Established in 1926 by Bill and Al Schleicher in Laguna Beach, TOM SAWYER CAMPS has been a pioneer in youth camping in Southern California. Over the years the camp has been committed to the idea that every child should experience carefree, constructive activities in the outdoors like Tom Sawyer and Becky Thatcher did. Positive reinforcement from caring adults, the thrill of horseback riding, the sharing of secret and daring adventures with a group of friends, and the chance to go out and get dirty are some of the reasons that thousands of children, including many second and third generation campers, reflect upon their Tom Sawyer Camp experience with fond and happy memories. Since 1944, the camp has been located in Hahamonga Watershed Park – above Devil’s Gate Dam in the Arroyo Seco – as a ten-week summer day camp.
Tom Sawyer Camps is accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA) and is a member of the Western Association of Independent Camps (WAIC). We are proud of our accreditation and active involvement with the American Camp Association.
